PROJECTS

The moment I left university, I have always been fuelled by my passion to create my own projects. My inspiration always lies within representation and rethinking narratives. These projects span across various mediums and formats.

I curated an event titled Agents of Change purely because I wanted young people from various background to talk about their work and their journey. This event brought in over 50+ guests including industry experts from the BBC. It kicked off with a keynote from co-founder Jide Adetunji from GUAP Mag, followed by a panel and networking event. During short but eventful stint at UWE, I was the editor of ‘Conversations About Race’ which was a book published by the university, curated by myself and designed by 3rd year graphic design students. The publication documents interactions to incite further conversations about race.

I co-curated Why Are We Not Here which was part of Spike Island Open Studios in 2019 and opened its doors to 6000+ guests. This exhibition tackled the lack of ethnic minorities within the art sector. I have also delivered a project called Uncomfortable Truths in partnership with the Bristol Museum and Art Gallery in which we highlight the uncomfortable truths behind specific artefacts in the museum, including the museum building itself. I worked with students from various background to deliver 8 podcast episodes and rewrite the labels of objects such as the Benin Bronze, Wills Memorial Building and the Delhi Durbar painting. This was a museum first and the labels are now permanently displayed. This was featured across various press outlets and on BBC Radio 4 with Jasmine Ketibuah-Foley. This project was closed with a 300+ exhibition launched at the museum.

I am very passionate about working alongside my peers and had the opportunity to work alongside other Black female creatives in Bristol as a collective. We were commissioned by CTRL Shift to create a ‘INTERWAVE” podcast that explored digital connectivity. I also had my work featured on billboards as part of the Whose Future campaign with Rising Arts Agency.

As part of the No Boundaries project, we worked with Notion magazine to create a DJ mix to represent the sounds of various cities in the UK. This highlighted the importance of a connecting with the regions and how to do this at the height of the pandemic.

I recently curated an exhibition at Prior Shop titled ‘A Sense of Belonging’ which showcased the work of 6 Black artist. This was also the backdrop of ‘The Mixed Race Experience’ book tour by Naomi and Natalie Evans. I was commissioned to create a shoe design for Trash Planet. and to design a Saffron Musics first ever zine which highlights Black women and non binary musicians across the UK.

I hosted the ‘Speak Your Truth’ series on Instagram live during the pandemic in which interviewed fellow creatives in support for Mental Health Awareness Week. This was very much a passion project and I also created the branding and marketing strategy for this project.

As well as all of the above, I love to make art which I have sold and now live in the homes of many across the world. Occasionally, I exhibit this work across shops and galleries in the UK.
